24th January 2025
This week we have taken part in a brilliant suffragette workshop in year 6. This is a great topic that children really enjoy. You will see from the dates below that there are lots of exciting events happening this term.
Below I have included some information about Roblox. I know that many children use Roblox and it is very important that parents understand how Roblox works and the risks it poses. On Roblox, children play games that other users make. At times, there are games that may contain violence, extreme or sexual materials. There are no age limits built into games. The other big risk is communication. All games are multiplayer and include a written chat feature, which is visible to players within each individual game. Users can also make and receive friend requests during gameplay and this means that they can chat to each other outside of the game. Parents can limit who can chat to their child and can pick just friends. However, if your child is in a group chat with a friend and someone else adds their friend, they can chat with your child.
What can I do
-
-IF you are letting your child play, make sure they play around other people- not in their bedroom. Talk to the children about Roblox, ask to see their favourite game. We would want them to feel comfortable to tell someone if something happened that was unsafe. We don't want them to keep it a secret.
-
IF you are letting your child play, make sure you have the passcode and can check the chats when you want to.
-
IF you are letting your child play, please check the parental controls. Limit communication to just friends. We can help with that if you need it.
-
IF you are letting your child play, please make sure they know the rules about spending money and that your cards aren't linked to the account.
